World Environment Day 2024

Department of Environmental Sciences and EcoClub (Green Warriors) of GDC Vijaypur under the guidance of the worthy Principal of college, Dr. Vandana Gupta organized various activities to celebrate World Environment Day 2024. The program started with the welcome address by the convener of Ecoclub Prof. Poonam Kundan (Head, Department of Environmental Sciences) where she briefed the students regarding importance of Environment day and also shed light on the pressing environmental issues and the crucial role of each individual in safeguarding our planet. Nearly 20 Green Volunteers of the college actively participated in the poster making competition on the theme: Land restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience. First position was achieved by Riya Changotra of B.Sc. Sem IV; Second position was attained by Amjad Hussain of B.Sc. Sem II and Third position was shared by Asma Bibi of B.Sc. Sem IV and Anjali Mehra of BA Sem II. The competition was adjudged by Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Prof. Anoop Bhagat (HOD Sociology) and Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education). Students of the college along with Principal and Faculty members installed earthen water pots across the campus to provide our feathered friends with access to water during rising temperatures. Principal of the College, Dr. Vandana Gupta congratulated all the volunteers and organisers for organising such type of activities in the College campus. She, in her address encourages everyone to support this effort by keeping an eye on the water pots and refilling them as needed. She further said that every small act of kindness towards nature makes a big difference. The programme was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan and co-coordinated by Prof. Meetu Sharma. Certificates were distributed to all the participants of Poster making competition. Refreshment was also distributed to all the students.
