Report On Independence Day Celebration Under ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’

As a part of the series of program being organized under the banner of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ a nationwide campaign, ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’, ‘G20’ and ‘Shikshit Bharat’, the Cultural Committee and NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of GDC Vijaypur continues with the day 2 of celebration on occasion of 77th Independence day on 15th of August, 2023 in the College campus with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. As a part of the celebration college building was also illuminated. The festivity commenced with the hoisting of the Tricolour, our National flag by the Chief Guest, Dr. Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College, which was accompanied by singing of National Anthem by the students and NSS volunteers. Principal of the College, in her address to the students and staff of the College, spoke about the sacrifices of the people of India for over two centuries to attain freedom from the British colonial rule. She lauded the efforts of Independent India in the field of science and technology, medicine, education, industries at a global level. She advised faculty and students to use our freedom for a better tomorrow. In her speech, she brought forth some nostalgic memories of Independence Day celebrations at Lal Quilla. The program was attended by all the faculty members – teaching as well as non-teaching of the College. The program included cultural items by the Students showcasing the culture of our country, it was followed by Prize distribution to the students who participated in a series of events Under “Meri Mati, Mera Desh”. Whole of the proceedings of the program was conducted Chandan Punia of B.A sem-V. The program was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (Convener, Cultural Committee), Dr. Shittal Sharma (Convenor, NSS and IQAC) and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and co-coordinated by Prof. Anil Bhagat (HOD Commerce). The refreshment was also distributed to the students during the event.
