Government Degree College Vijaypur celebrated National Voters' Day and Republic day Government Degree College Vijaypur celebrated National Voters’ Day and Republic Day with great fervor and enthusiasm in the college premises by organizing a series of programs.India marks January 26 as its Republic Day every year. In 2023, the country is celebrating its 74th Republic Day. This year, the theme of India's Republic Day 2023 is "Jan Bhagidari (participation of the common people)". Students of the college participated in the program with enthusiasm, patriotic fervor and great zeal. The programme was commenced with lightening of lamp followed by raising slogans of Vande Mataram, Jai Hind-Jai Bharat, Bharat Mata ki Jai. The proceedings of the program was conducted by Kanchan Sharma and Sheetal, students of BA Semester V. Further the programme was followed by a formal introduction to Republic Day celebration and National Voters’ Day. The Pledge regarding Right to Vote was also taken to commemorate the National Voters’ Day. The whole event was organized under the able guidance of the principal, Dr. Vandana Gupta where she welcomed all the staff members and students. She said the goal of Voters’ day is to encourage more people to vote in elections regardless of their age, gender especially young voters. She highlighted the importance of voting in India by which youth can contribute towards the up-liftment of the country. She also talked about the importance of 26th January. On 26th January 1950, the constitution of India came into effect, by adopting its own Constitution, India became republic on 26th January. She also gave tribute to all the freedom fighters for their contribution to protect the country.Students of the college presented various cultural items like singing of patriotic songs, dance on patriotic songs and extempore speeches to celebrate 74th Republic Day.The whole event was coordinated by Dr. Shittal Sharma, Prof. Anil Bhagat, Prof. Poonam Kundan and co-coordinated by Prof. Renuka Kundal, Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo, Dr. Bandana Khajuria, Prof. Sonia, Prof. Sandhya Bhagat, Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Renu Malhotra, Prof. Yograj Singh and Miss Disha Arti. The cultural programme was concluded with the singing of National Anthem. Refreshment and certificates with memontos were given to participants at the end of the function.
