Intra-college Declamation Contest On The Theme Truth And Non-Violence At GDC Vijaypur

Mahatma Gandhi was one of the greatest human beings of India. His life journey inspires us to lead our life in the way of truth. He was regarded as the Father of Nation as he dedicated his life for freedom movement. He stressed on better social integration, endless love for human beings and his view of socialism was to create a classless society with no poverty, no hunger, no unemployment. To embark the importance of International Day of Non-violence, GDC Vijaypur as a part of Gandhi Jayanti Celebration 2023 under the flagship banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat and Bhrashtachaar Mukt J&K, organized a declamation contest on the theme Truth and Non-Violence. Many students of semester 3 and semester 5 presented their valuable views. The first prize was won by Taniya Jamwal of BA Sem-III while second position was shared by Abhishek Rajra, Tanshu and Haroon Malik of BA Sem-V and the third prize was secured by Nikita Sharma of Sem-V. The proceedings of the program were carried out by Keshav Mehra, student of B.Com. Sem-V. The whole event was coordinated by Dr. Shittal Sharma and Prof. Poonam Kundan under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College. The competition was adjudged by Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Renuka Kundal (Lecturer, Dept. of Political Science) and Dr. Neelam Kumari (Lecturer, Dept. of Hindi). Prof Vandana Gupta, in her address, assorted that Gandhian philosophy was based on the concept of truth, satyagraha, honesty and non-violence which gives us psychological strength to live a sound and healthy life. She further added that Gandhiji believed that when character is lost everything is lost. So, one of the main objectives of education should be character and personality development. The final vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science). All the participants were awarded with the certificates.
