Government Degree College Vijaypur holds workshop on Indian Knowledge System

A workshop on the Indian Knowledge System was organised today by the Departments of Languages of GDC Vijaypur. The theme of the workshop was ‘Importance of Basant Panchmi in Indian tradition in light of Indian Knowledge System’. Workshop was organized under the able guidance of the Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Verma. Students of the department of Hindi, English and Dogri participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm, fervor and zeal. In the first phase of the workshop, discussions were held on the concept of Indian Knowledge System, its glorious history, its contribution to the well-being of human society and its rationality in the present times. Explaining the practical aspect of the Indian Knowledge System, Prof. Sonia Devi (Lecturer, Department of Hindi) said that it has a solution to every problem faced in human life. She based her speech on the sutras of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta. She told the youth about the formulas for controlling the mind and positive and creative use of energy. Dr. Indu Koul (Lecture, Department of English) stated that Basant Panchami, also known as Saraswati Puja, is a significant day in the Indian knowledge system because it celebrates the arrival of spring and the goddess of knowledge, Saraswati. It is a day of new beginnings, learning, and growth. This day is very auspicious; people start new work, get married or start anything new on this day. The workshop was carried out with full support of the senior faculty members Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Sociology) and Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences). The workshop was organized by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (HOD English).
