GDC Vijaypur Organizes Awareness Programme cum Lecture under SVEEP

NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur under the banner of Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye and Chunav ka Parv Desh ka Garv organizes an awareness programme on voting awareness. More than fifty college students and NSS volunteers participated in the programme with great enthusiasm, fervor and zeal. The aim of organizing awareness programme was to make students aware about the importance of voting in a democracy. The awareness programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO). She briefed the students that voting in a democracy is of utmost importance as it lets citizens choose their representatives in forming the government. While speaking on the occasion she stated that voting and taking part in the electoral process is more than a right and made sure that all the students of the college register themselves for the upcoming elections. It’s a responsibility that each citizen holds to select their leaders. Principal of the college, Dr. Vandana Verma while speaking on the occasion stated that as per Indian Constitution, all the citizens above the age of 18 years who have registered themselves as voters are eligible to vote. Every voter is allowed one vote only. A voter can vote at the constituency where he has registered himself only. Whole of the event was organized with the full support of the senior faculty members like Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Sociology) and Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education). The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Science), Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO and HOD English), Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography). Refreshments were also distributed to all the participants during the event.
