GDC Vijaypur Organises Lecture On Voting Rights

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur in collaboration with District Election Office Vijaypur, Samba today conducted a lecture on special summary revision under SVEEP 2023 (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) to create awareness among the young college students/citizens about the importance of their participation in the upcoming elections. The lecture was delivered by Tejasvi from GDC Samba to provide knowledge regarding voting rights and its importance for electing healthy and competent government. Further she also elaborated that government has launched a new portal for registration of citizens so that they can prepare their voter cards. The program was organized in collaboration with the Election Commission of India (ECI). A team from District Election Office Samba visited GDC Vijaypur for the awareness of voting and its rights. Kameshwar Dubey (BLO Supervisor) briefed students regarding the process of voting and awareness regarding the importance of elections. Students of college were also briefed about the electoral process, including the role of the Election Commission of India, the process of voter registration, the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and the importance of ethical voting. Muneer Hussain (BLO), Mohd. Abdulla (BLO) and Sunil Sharma (Handloom Deptt.) also interacted with students and also answered the questions raised by them. The program was attended by faculty members, college students and NSS volunteers of the college. The program received positive feedback from the students, who found it informative and engaging. Principal of the college, Prof. Dr. Vandana Gupta appreciated the efforts of the District Election Office Samba in organizing such an informative and educative lecture and also for creating awareness about the electoral process. The program was organized with the full support and coordination of the senior faculty members of the college Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science) and Dr. Anoop Bhagat (HOD Sociology). The event was coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education and Convenor IQAC) and co-coordinated by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences).
