GDC Vijaypur organises Essay Writing Competition and Quiz Competition. NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) and Eco Club (GREEN WARRIORS) of Govt. Degree College Vijaypur organizes intra-college “Essay Writing Competition” and “Quiz Competition” on the theme freedom is our right, unity is our strength. NSS volunteers, green warriors and college students participated actively in both the competitions with great enthusiasm, zeal and fervor. The aim of organizing the events was to nurture a sense of patriotism among the college students. The competitions were organized under Swachhta Pakhwada programme in conjunction with the 77 th Independence Day Celebrations under the able guidance of the esteemed Principal of the college Dr. (Prof.) Vandana Verma. Nearly 20 students belonging to semesters III and V participated in the essay writing competition with great interest by putting their ideas and thoughts creatively into words. The participants nicely putted down in words their ideas and perspectives on India’s unity in diversity. In the essay writing competition, first position was attained by Rupaank Aryan of B.A. semester V, second position was achieved by Amjad Hussain of BA Semester III and third position was secured by Palvi Sharma of BA Sem V, whereas in the Quiz Competition, first position was attained by Team A comprising, Amjad Hussain of BA semester III, Sharda Devi of BA Sem V and Rupaank Aryan of BA semester III; second position was achieved by Team C comprising of Palvi Sharma of BA semester V, Saharsh Dev Singh of BA semester III and Avijeet Kumar of B.Sc semester III and third position was secured by Team B comprising of Vishali Sharma of B.Sc. Sem III, Payal Sharma of B.Sc semester III and Ranjit Kour of B.Sc semester III. Competitions were adjudged by Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce) and Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education). Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of the students who put forward their ideas and thoughts on ‘Independence Day' through creative writings. She further articulated that these competitions encourages young youth to share their ideas and perspectives on the long journey and hard struggle India won freedom from clutches of the Britishers. Whole of the event was coordinated by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and Prof. Poonam Kundan (Nodal Officer Swachhta Pakhwada) and co-coordinated by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography).
