Department of Sociology, GDC Vijaypur Organizes Plantation Drive as Part of Course-Related Activity on 13-02-2025. The activity aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and raising awareness among students about the importance of green initiatives. The event saw enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty, who collectively planted various saplings across the campus grounds. The plantation drive was carefully planned to not only contribute to the beautification of the college campus but also to educate students about the significance of trees in reducing carbon footprints, combating climate change, and improving overall air quality. Dr. Vandana Verma Principal of GDC Vijaypur, remarked, "This initiative not only helps to enhance the aesthetic appeal of our campus but also provides an opportunity for students to engage in activities that contribute to the preservation of our environment. She emphasized about the need of the hour to involve young generation in the preservation and conservation of the natural resources of the environment. She also laid emphasises to ensure the better environment for the present as well as for future generation. The event was coordinated by Department of Sociology under the headship of Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD, Sociology) along with Dr Priyanka Ganjoo and Ms. Pooja devi. The faculty members present in the plantation drive were Prof. Anita Jamwal, Prof Mamta Gupta, Prof Ritu Bhagat, Prof Poonam Kundan, Dr. Manoj Heer, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, all other faculty members.
