5 Days NSS Camp

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. With the objective of formulation of National Youth Policy, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, initiated a nationwide survey on the topic Survey of youth not involved in formal education or regular employment. In order to provide credible data of the youth of adopted village Marhun of Block Vijaypur, GDC Vijaypur organized a Special 5 days NSS Camp from 25-03-23 till 29-03-23. The first day of the Camp comprised of the two technical sessions. In the first session, Ms. Sonia Bhagat, H.O.D. Hindi briefly educated the NSS volunteers regarding the aims, vision, purpose, rules and regulation of NSS. She extorted that The Motto of NSS "Not Me but You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. She further added that NSS helps the student’s development & appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. She emphasized that the philosophy of the NSS is a good doctrine which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society. In Second Technical Session the NSS volunteers were briefed by Dr. Shittal Sharma, Convenor, NSS regarding filling up of the survey form titled Survey of youth not involved in formal education or regular employment. She further motivated the students that the volunteers would have the exposure and experience to be an accomplished social leader; an efficient administrator and a person who understands human nature. In the second day of the Camp, the Plantation drive was conducted with the cooperative efforts of NSS volunteers and the Staff members. Some species of alstonia scholaris and few other ornamental plants were planted enthusiastically. For the next three days of the camps NSS volunteers participated in the survey with zeal and fervor. They conducted the door-to-door survey on the said title in the adopted village and covered more than 100 households. The data of the survey was well-collected, coded and compiled by the volunteers. An aggregate of 100 students participated in the survey. Refreshments were also distributed to all the participants during the Camp. The program was organized under the able guidance of Prof. Vandana Gupta, Principal GDC Vijaypur. She congratulated the staff members and the students regarding the successful accomplishment of the 5 Days Special NSS Camp and initiated that such more camps would be organized by the college for the overall development of the students. The whole event was coordinated by Dr. Shittal Sharma, Convenyor NSS. The organizing committee comprised of Prof. Anil Bhagat, Prof. Poonam Kundan, Ms. Sandhya Bhagat, Dr. Bandana Khajuria, Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Ms. Sonia Devi, Mr. Anil Kumar.
