Plantation Drive Under â€œMy College, My Prideâ€

Government Degree College Vijaypur organized a plantation drive under “My College, My Pride” NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College, Vijaypur in collaboration with Department of Environmental Sciences of the college organized a plantation drive in the college premises under the flagship banner of ‘My College My Pride’. Principal of the college Dr. Vandana Gupta along with teaching and non-teaching members of the staff, NSS volunteers and other college students planted saplings in the college campus to make college campus clean and green which is the need of the hour. The plantation drive initiated with the welcome address by Prof. Poonam Kundan, Head Department of environmental Sciences where she briefed the students of the college about the importance of planting trees as they are the life lines for survival on Earth. Plants of medicinal, herbal, shady, ornamental types were planted in the campus encouraging and motivating students to take ample steps to protect our environment by planting trees. Whole of the event was conducted under the able guidance of Princial Dr. Vandana Gupta where she apprised the students about the significance of “Aforestation” and how aforestation can save us from the doom. She further explained the students and teaching and non-teaching staff of the college that the act of deforestation is causing a massive damage to the environment resulting in increased global warming, floods along with other natural calamities and plantation is the only way out to curb these issues. The drive was organised by Dr. Shittal Sharma, HOD Mathematics and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, HOD English and NSS PO.
