GDC Vijaypur Organizes Pledge Taking Event Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan

In continuation to the series of the celebration of week-long activities to be performed under Republic Day 2025 Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Committee of Government Degree College Vijaypur organized a pledge taking event highlighting that Drug Addiction is emerging to be a serious concern in the country, especially in the younger generation leading to dangerous consequences not just for the person using drugs, but on the family and society at large. Drug abuse has resulted in an increase in crime rate and had an overall detrimental impact on society. The program was organized under the able guidance and supervision of the esteemed Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Verma, students and faculty members who took the pledge and showed their commitment towards creating the country which is free from the use of drugs. Pledge was administered by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (Nodal Officer, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan) to the students and faculty members of the college. He briefed students that Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan committee places great emphasis on conducting widespread awareness programs to educate individuals about the perils of substance abuse. These programs are designed to reach people of all age groups and social backgrounds. He further added that by engaging with schools and universities, the campaign aims to prevent the initiation of substance abuse among the youth. Educational institutions become crucial spaces for spreading awareness and fostering a culture of healthy living. Prof Mamta Gupta, HOD Commerce exhorted that we have to build a society where people don't feel pressured to take drugs and where it's easy to get help if they need it. This means involving families, youth, civil society and even religious leaders to eradicate the menace of Drugs from the society. The event was carried out with support of the senior faculty members Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education), Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences), Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (HOD English) and Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography) and other faculty members. It was coordinated by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo, Dr Anjana Raina, Prof. Madhu Bala and Prof. Manisha.
